Artist Steve Mei was born in Chicago, Illinois and currently resides on the island of Kaua’i.  Mei is a versatile and imaginative artist able to create a variety of unique and distinctive styles.  Mei is best known for his boldly colorful, expressive and dramatic works inspired by the islands of Hawai’i.  These highly stylized renderings of the islands and their people are represented in his signature “Tropical Deco” series.

Mei’s signature “Deco” style is also represented in his “Cottage Deco” series which includes his vintage California coastal imagery, “Tuscan Deco” series and vintage fashion plates.

As an accomplished artist, Mei is artistically acute in his translation and interpretation of the beauty and essence of his island experiences and extensive travels.  His catalog includes both contemporary and traditional works.  Mei is collected worldwide not only for his works depicting Hawai’is tropical paradise, but also his mixed media and abstract thought provoking pieces created from his life’s journeys.
